The music division of Riot Games, a leading developer in its industry, will collaborate with a leader in virtual training, Wave, and a star of special effects and immersive experiences, The Mill, to produce Lost Chapter: an interactive album , in the featuring the virtual heavy metal band from the incredibly popular League of Legends video game Pentakill. The virtual concert will premiere on Wednesday, September 8, at 10:00 PM (Spanish peninsular time) on Wave’s platform, wave.watch.
That announcement closely follows exciting events in the Pentakill universe. Just a week ago, the band announced their long-awaited third full album, III: Lost Chapter . This announcement was followed by a campaign for an alternate reality game (ARG) that, unbeknownst to Pentakill fans, would serve to explore all of the band’s hidden stories.
Leveraging Wave’s state-of-the-art broadcasting tools and technology platform, this virtual show will give fans a front row seat to experience the performance and sound of Pentakill like never before. Furthermore, none of this would have been possible without the interactive visual effects and animations created with real-time video game technology from Oscar-winning creative production studio The Milll.
ARG’s campaign, created in collaboration with creative production studio We Are Royale, kicked off on @riotgamesmusic’s social media on August 29. Pentakill fans were invited to solve a series of riddles, puzzles and encrypted messages from a mysterious source. That source turned out to be Viego, a League of Legends character , driven by his desire to improve the world of metal. After solving the ARG puzzles over four days, Riot Games will call on the legions of Pentakill fans to decide what the next phase of the Lost Chapter journey will look like .
The ARG campaign will end with the interactive concert experience on September 8, which will not only give fans a chance to decide how the journey ends, but will also allow them to hear the full III: Lost Chapter album for the first time. This album will be available on the main digital streaming platforms right after the concert. Fans can save the album to their playlists in advance.

Riot Games’ music division previously announced that III: Lost Chapter would be a concept album that would visit various subgenres of metal, following Pentakill’s venture into new sonic realms. Pentakill is a fictional heavy metal band that features the exhilarating vocal power of Karthus and Kayle; the colossal guitar riffs of Mordekaiser (the Master of Metal); Yorick’s brutal bass chords; the charming harmonies of the keyboardist, Sona; and the thunderous beat of the drummer, Olaf.
The III: Lost Chapter campaign has become the latest attempt by Riot Games to dive into the world of music and create a metaverse with experiences focused on its characters and stories. Riot Games’ music division caused a stir in the musical metaverse with K / DA, a group inspired by female k-pop bands, and the hip-hop collective True Damage, both based on characters from League of Legends . Riot Games’ music division recently released Sessions: Vi, a compilation of 37 songs created in collaboration with 21 different artists from across the instrumental music industry. The album was created so that community streamers and content creators could use their songs without worrying about copyright.
Toa Dunn of the Riot Games Music Team comments: “We are excited to continue to go one step further when it comes to storytelling and music with Pentakill. Through our collaboration with Wave, The Mill and We Are Royale, we intend to demonstrate what the future of virtual entertainment experiences can look like.
Wave has developed virtual experiences for artists around the world, such as The Weeknd, John Legend, Dillon Francis, Alison Wonderland, Tinashe and many more, reaching millions of viewers everywhere.
Jarred Kennedy, Wave COO, shares: “Riot Games is a perfect partner for Wave as they are pioneers in using music and emerging technologies to create and expand their worlds beyond games. Wave has remained at the intersection of the world of music and video games since its inception, and we are excited to partner with Riot to help shape the future of virtual performance. ”
Riot Games’ in-house music production team, comprised of songwriters, artists, producers, and audio engineers, was tasked with producing III: Lost Chapter . Additionally, Riot’s incredible roster for Lost Chapter has been joined by Tyler “TELLE” Smith (The Word Alive), Adam “Nolly” Getgood (Periphery), Benjamin Ellis (Bloodshot Dawn), keyboardist Jose “Atlan” Aranda and violinist Ray Chen.
